Healing Arts Day  Saturday July 18,  2009 ( be offered again in 2010 in different format tba)

An
internationally recognized complementary healing modality, Therapeutic Touch
originated in the early 1970’s at
Pumpkin Hollow Retreat Center, Columbia County.

Over thirty
years of clinical experience and research shows that TT can decrease the perception
of pain, induce a profound relaxation response, promote rest and sleep, reduce
stress and accelerate wound healing.  TT
can also have an effect on psychological and spiritual levels.  Therapeutic Touch is a gentle but powerful
intervention which can stimulate the body’s own natural healing ability.

On Saturday July 18, Dr. Dolores Krieger, co-founder of Therapeutic
Touch, is offering a community outreach/health promotional program: Healing
Partners.  Her public talk, Self Healing:
the challenges and responsibilities will focus on how we all can skillfully promote
our own healing. Her colleague, Shirley Spear Begley, coordinator of the TT
Mentorship program  at PHRC will offer a
lecture and demonstration on Therapeutic Touch; the benefits, the process and
the research.

Our Healing
Arts day (
10:30 am – 4 pm) is an invitation for the local
residents to get acquainted with
Pumpkin Hollow Retreat Center, enjoy a vegetarian lunch,
participate in a Group Healing Meditation and stroll the love
ly sanctuary
grounds. A donation of $10 is requested. Please make reservations.

As a follow-up to our Healing Arts Day, TT treatments will be offered July 19-21 in the
afternoons at
2pm, (Sunday, Monday,Tuesday), and July 25-29, in the morning
at
10 am (Saturday through Wednesday).

$10
donation for the Healing Arts Day. TT treatment sessions are offered as a
service, there is no charge. But, it is important to register!

Helping Hearts and Hands at the Hollow
The heartbeat at the Hollow is strong, the energy alive and the spaces warm and welcoming thanks to the generous giving of time, loving work, money and intention througout the seasons.
It is wonderful to welcome home Hollowers of years past and new faces. Much fun has been had in the kitchen and on projects on the grounds and buildings. Many cabins as well as the main house and staff house have received refreshing upgrades and renovations thanks to hearts and hands who've given generously with the Hollow in mind.

There's always plenty left to do and the call goes out to you to come give from your heart and be filled with the joy and satisfaction that comes from being part of keeping such a beautiful place as Pumpkin Hollow alive and well for the benefit of all. Please join us for one or more of the work weekends or anytime there are programs -giving a helping handd here at the Hollow. Do consider a week, month or even the season of being a volunteer here!

Living and working here at the Hollow is a very fulfilling adventure. The more hearts and hands the merrier as the heart of the Hollow swells and shares it's magic with all who come to visit.

The "Adopt-A" program has been alive and well! We've seen 2 cabins benefit hugely by some of our dear friends' specified monetary gifts toward them. We've seen windows, curtains, floors, beds and decor, furniture and a station wagon arrive out of generous hearts. Remember too that the "adopt-a" program can be applied to your paying special attention to some space of the Hollow's grounds and gardens with your physical and/or monetary support.
Thanks from the heart of the Hollow to all who have participated in the wonderful year we've had in 2007!!!
