Living Healthy with Diabetes
Do you have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes? Have you been told you have "pre-diabetes"? Are you at risk for developing diabetes because of familial genetic factors? If you have answered "yes" to any of these questions, then this retreat may change your life.
Diabetes is a dis-ease process. Diabetes forces a person to develop and harness mind/body awareness engaging mindful eating, physical fitness and healthy self-care activities in a world redefined through sugar awareness.
We invite you to learn about healthy lifestyle attitudes, behaviors and choices you can make to prevent complications from controlling your health.
Experiential sessions will include interactive discussions and activities that address healthy eating and food choices; being active with mindful and creative exercise; monitoring for blood glucose awareness; healthy coping skills; and strategies for handling problems when they arise.
Meals are prepared vegetarian style with fresh seasonal organic produce from the PHRC garden and local farm markets. Six delicious, balanced meals plus healthy snacks are included in retreat fees.
